Ingredients

330 g (1 3/4 cups) all-purpose flour

67 g (1/3 cup) granulated sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon baking powder

113 g (8 tablespoons) butter, cold

1-2 cups inclusions, as desired

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

113 to 152 g (1/2 - 1/3 cups) half-and-half, buttermilk, or milk
Steps
- Mix dry ingredients and cut in butter until coarse with some larger chunks of butter remaining.
- Stir in the inclusions.
- Add the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently knead the dough until fully mixed (do not over-work)
- Divide the dough into two rounds and cut into wedges.
- Brush the tops with egg wash or milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Place in the freezer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 425 degrees F for 18-23 minutes.
