Danish butter cookies

Ingredients

  • 227 g (1 cup) softened butter
  • 100 g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 284 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • Coarse sugar, for sprinking

Steps

  • Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy on medium speed.
  • Beat in salt, vanilla, and egg.
  • At low speed, gradually add the flour, scraping the bowl as you go.
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a star tip (Ateco 827) and pipe onto lined baking sheets.
  • Freeze the piped cookies.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Bake 15-17 minutes, until lightly browned at the edges.
